SIMulation Workbench (SimWB) provides a complete framework for developing and executing real-time hardware-in-the-loop and man-in-the-loop simulations. SimWB’s powerful GUI allows users to conveniently configure, start, stop, record and play back simulation runs. SimWB provides fast, direct shared memory access to all parameters and signals needed by your simulation. SimWB’s in-memory design optimizes performance and data conversion speed. SimWB supports multi-rate, muti-model simulations running on multi-core processor platforms.

SimWB is built upon a client-server architecture. A real-time server provides the run-time environment for simulation while network-based GUI clients control and display simulation activities. Real-time performance is maximized because the GUI clients run outside of the simulation server. SimWB fully supports Simulink models developed using The MathWorks’ products.

SimWB includes a memory-resident database, the RTDB, that can be accessed by all simulation processes. The RTDB stores the definition of all data items used by the simulation such as model variables and their mapping to I/O boards and model parameters. RTDB is configured externally via a GUI and provides for complete I/O independence. All the information necessary to configure I/O points and data bus protocols and to read, convert, write and store simulation variables is maintained in the database. SIMulation Workbench Base Licenses

WU8020-300 -- SIMulation Workbench Perpetual Development License for up to 8 CPU cores

The SIMulation Workbench (SimWB) Development License enables a user to create and configure the SimWB real-time database and simulation tests for models. Configuration of a test includes specifying the mapping between model variables and hardware I/O points, selecting the scheduling policy, run-time tuning of the CPU affinities for multi-threaded tests and other parameters. This perpetual license provides for SimWB usage on up to eight processor cores. Two GUI client licenses and one HMI module license is included.

The SIMulation Workbench (SimWB) Development License enables a user to create and configure the SimWB real-time database and simulation tests for models. This perpetual license provides for SimWB usage on up to two processor cores. Two GUI client licenses and one HMI module license is included.

The SIMulation Workbench (SimWB) Development License enables a user to create and configure the SimWB real-time database and simulation tests for models. This perpetual license provides for SimWB usage on up to sixteen processor cores. Two GUI client licenses and one HMI module license is included.

WU8020-307 -- SIMulation Workbench Simulation Mode Perpetual License for unlimited CPU cores

The SIMulation Workbench simulation mode-only license enables a user to create and configure a SIMulation Workbench real-time database and perform simulation testing on multiple models. Users can run the same simulations as supported under a Development license, but no I/O and real-time support is provided. Two GUI client licenses and one HMI module license is included.

Prerequisites: iHawk system (HQx or HRx) or user-provided system running RedHawk Linux (W-RHL-RTC-IA64)

Notes: A graphics card or a Core i5/i7 with HD graphics is highly recommended for systems that will run the X graphical environment.

WU8020-310 -- SIMulation Workbench Support for 32-bit Models

This option allows 32-bit user models to run on SIMulation Workbench.

.SIMulation Workbench Client Options

SimWB client licenses allow a user to interact with the real-time host. For example, you can generate code for your models on a client machine and upload the code to the real-time host. You can also create and start/stop simulation tests on the host machine from a remote client. Client licenses such as the MLToolkit, PYToolkit and J-API allow you to create custom GUIs to interact with the real-time host.

Note: A client license provides a connection to the real-time host from a single IP. The client license is not IP-bound. i.e. it can be used by another client once the first client has closed all connections to the real-time host. Multiple client licenses can be purchased to allow simultaneous access to the real-time host from multiple client systems.

ICS-SWB-400 -- Additional GUI Client License

A GUI client license provides for an additional simultaneous connection from the SimWB GUI configuration tool used to configure SimWB resources, run test configurations and view run-time information. The SimWB base licenses include two GUI Client licenses. Any number of additional GUI Client licenses can be purchased.

ICS-SWB-401 -- Additional HMI Module License

An HMI module license allows a user to develop sophisticated HMI displays in order to monitor and manipulate a simulation at run time. You can customize the HMI using widgets included with SimWB or build your own widgets using Java or SVGs. One HMI module license is included with SIMulation Workbench Development base licenses. An ICS-SWB-401 license must be purchased for each additional simultaneous HMI module to be run.

ICS-SWB-402 -- MLToolkit License

The MLToolkit module license provides a GUI to easily generate SimWB-compliant code for Simulink models developed using the MathWorks’ products. The MLToolkit automatically uploads the generated code from a client machine to the real-time host machine and compiles it. These tasks can also be performed using a MATLAB API provided with the tool kit. An ICS-SWB-402 license is required for each MLTooklit client.

Prerequisite: MathWorks MATLAB/Simulink and MATLAB/Simulink Coder.

ICS-SWB-403 -- PYToolkit License

The PYToolkit module license provides a complete client-side python programming interface to SimWB. The PYToolkit includes modules that allow you to completely configure and control a SimWB host or target using a network connection. The tool kit also provides access to SimWB logged data and to server-side SimWB API calls from the client.

ICS-SWB-404 -- J-API Module License

The J-API module license provides classes and methods to query the configuration of tests, the RTDB and SimWB programs on the SimWB real-time host. The J-API also provides methods to connect to the SimWB data logger server, query it for test/session information runs, and read data logger values for RTDB items. The J-API allows a user to create tests and test sessions, and issue commands to the real-time host to select and run test sessions. It also provides asynchronous threads to receive update messages related to changes in RTDB values in real-time and receive simulator messages, test status and cfgsrv.log messages. A J-API module license is required for connection to the TPT model-based testing tool from PikeTec.

ICS-SWB-405 -- ASAM Package License

The ASAM package implements a subset of the ASAM AE HIL v1.0.0 specification in Python for a SimWB model access port. Leveraging the PYToolkit, a user can script tests using the platform-independent ASAM API and then target the tests to any target system that supports the ASAM standard. A running SimWB test can be manipulated as an ASAM model access port by defining and driving signal generators and defining complex capture tasks. Logged SimWB data can be automatically returned to the script as standard ASAM objects. In order to use the ASAM package, a PYToolkit module license (ICS-SWB-403) is required.

ICS-SWB-406 -- C# API License

The C# API module license provides a client-side C# programming interface to SimWB. The C# API includes modules that allow you to configure and control a SimWB host or target using a network connection. In order to use the C# API, .NET Framework 4.0 or higher is needed. C# API is currently supported on 64-bit Windows systems only.

Prerequisite: .NET Framework 4.0 or higher and a 64-bit Windows system.

ICS-SWB-407 -- I/O Monitor Module License

The I/O Monitor Module license provides for visualization of CAN, LIN and SENT protocol raw frames. The frames can be logged to an ASCII file on the local host. The user can directly view and change RTDB values mapped to the frames. The I/O Monitor Module requires this license to work permanently. Without the license, the module is active for only five minutes after each restart of the SimWB control center.

ICS-SWB-408 -- GLS VIEWER Module License

The GLS VIEWER module license allows users to run HMI displays with a GL Studio Reusable Software Object (RSO) to monitor and manipulate a simulation at run time. GL Studio software is used to develop customized RSOs and create SimWB displays using the RSO. SimWB includes two unlocked GL Studio RSOs: Cluster Demo and PFD Demo. Displays created using these two RSOs use a SimWB GUI Client license (ICS-SWB-400). Displays created using customized RSOs require the GLS VIEWER license.

Prerequisite: GL Studio software development license for developing an RSO. GL Studio runtime license if the RSO is not unlocked.

ICS-SWB-500 -- FIBEX FlexRay Configuration Support License

The FIBEX FlexRay configuration support license allows use of FIBEX FlexRay under SimWB.

ICS-SWB-501 -- SIMPACK Interface License

The SIMPACK interface license provides a straightforward method of running high-fidelity SIMPACK models in real-time under SimWB. The interface allows execution of SIMPACK models using multiple cores. SimWB supports SIMPACK version 9.3 or higher.

Prerequisite: SIMPACK installed on the iHawk system.

ICS-SWB-502 -- Functional Mockup Interface (FMI/FMU) License

The FMI/FMU license provides an interface to execute FMU models in SimWB. Users can easily import the FMU files into SimWB, select the variables to be mapped to the RTDB, and run the FMU model in real time. SimWB currently supports FMI Co-Simulation modes 1.0 and 2.0.

ICS-SWB-504 -- MSC Adams License

MSC Adams Multibody Dynamics (MBD) software allows engineers to reduce product development costs by enabling early system-level design validation. The Adams interface license in SimWB allows users to run the Adams models in real-time leveraging multicore, hard real-time capabilities. It also facilitates seamless integration with SimWB supported I/O modules.

ICS-SWB-505 -- IPG CarMaker License

CarMaker from IPG Automotive provides a complete modeling environment including an intelligent driver model, a detailed vehicle model and highly flexible models for roads and traffic. With CarMaker, users can easily build complete, realistic test scenarios. The event and maneuver-based testing method ensures that the necessary flexibility and realistic execution of real-world test driving are also features of virtual test driving. The CarMaker SimWB license allows users to run Carmaker models in real-time leveraging multicore, hard real-time capabilities. It also facilitates seamless integration with SimWB supported I/O modules.

ICS-SWB-506 -- FMU License for Windows

The FMU Windows add-on license allows a user to run Windows-based FMU models in SIMulation Workbench under the Wine compatibility layer. This feature is useful when a third-party vendor provides an FMU file that packages a 64-bit Windows shared library (.dll file) rather than a Linux-based binary in the form of a shared library (.so file). Wine is a free and open-source compatibility layer that allows computer programs developed for Windows to run on POSIX-compliant operating systems. Requires ICS-SWB-502 Functional Mockup Interface (FMI/FMU) license.

Prerequisite: ICS-SWB-502 FMI/FMU license.

SIMulation Workbench I/O Support
